Famed celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton remains hospitalized in Florida in serious condition following a harrowing self-harm episode broadcast live on social media.
The 48-year-old internet personality, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., experienced severe blood loss during the disturbing incident at his Miami-area residence, according to statements released on his official website by his family and representatives.
In a direct statement addressing his condition, his family revealed that Perez Hilton is receiving care at a secure facility under Florida’s Baker Act. The state law allows for involuntary emergency psychiatric evaluation and medical stabilization for individuals believed to be a danger to themselves.
“Perez’s condition remains serious but stable. He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” his family shared in an update on his official website.

Addressing the daunting path ahead, his family underscored that his treatment and long recovery process will require considerable time and medical care.
“His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday,” the statement added, noting that his interaction remains strictly controlled.
“His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements,” his family clarified.
The crisis unfolded when concerned viewers alerted law enforcement after witnessing Hilton streaming acts of self-harm on TikTok while holding a sharp object and appearing covered in blood. The social media platform quickly moved to take down the footage and permanently banned his account for violating community standards, while simultaneously alerting local authorities.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies were dispatched to his residence following “multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media,” according to an official police statement.
“Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside,” officials stated.

“The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” the Sheriff’s office added, confirming the emergency response team disengaged once he was secured.
In an earlier statement published shortly after his hospitalization, Hilton’s team expressed profound gratitude to fans and well-wishers who reached out during the frightening ordeal.
“Your compassionate humanity during this heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express. This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family,” his representatives wrote.
They noted that while information was initially scarce, the family found hope knowing he was conscious and able to communicate with doctors.
“His family and team confirmed that Hilton is able to communicate, which has given our family hope,” the post stated. “We respectfully ask for your continued prayers, understanding, and grace as Perez continues to recover.”
“Again, thank you, truly, for all your support and compassion. We are so grateful,” the team concluded, explaining that they are “taking things one step at a time and keeping our focus where it belongs, on Perez and his recovery.”

His talent management company, Golden Artists Entertainment, also released a statement prioritizing his well-being over speculative commentary.
“Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery, and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” his agency stated.
The disturbing incident comes just months after Hilton survived a major medical health crisis involving severe sepsis and emergency surgery for a blood clot, health battles he had previously spoken about publicly as life-changing experiences.
His family has requested privacy for his three young children, confirming that the kids are safe and being cared for by close relatives while Hilton focuses on his recovery.
