Besides Willam’s Beatdowns (RIP) and Bob’s spiraling during makeover videos, one of the joys of my dreary days is to watch the drag equivalent of America’s Funniest Home Videos on Trixie Mattel’s YouTube channel (I love her cosmetic launches, but those tend to put a significant dent in my wallet.
In this episode, 26-year drag veteran (can’t believe it’s been that long, because she looks amazing – and her wig, by Wigs by Vanity, is fabulous) wins Trixie for all of the wig-losing, trips, and tumbles from queens from around the globe. Of course, Courtney Act’s infamous Big Brother moment is included, as well as Trixie’s rolling chair fail during a stage performance featuring Katya and Kelly Mantle. We also get bloopers from Morgan McMichaels (smashing light bulbs), Silky Ganache (a wig reveal, nine horribly wrong), and Bianca Del Rio (trying to maintain her cool while fighting a faulty rig in a number that is truly Wicked).
There are also air-conditioning assassinations, sound system outages (and a creative queen who lives by the motto “the show must go on” and improvises with a smartphone and a bullhorn), and so much more. It’s a fun-filled video and no queens were harmed (except for maybe their egos).
