Rihanna Sues Her Father For Exploiting Fenty Name

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has filed a lawsuit against her father, Ronald Fenty, over the name of his entertainment company.

The singer says that her father and his partner have violated her trademark and falsely suggested that their business, Fenty Entertainment, is affiliated with her.

Rihanna claims that his talent development company Fenty Entertainment, which was founded in 2017, breaches her copyright of the “Fenty” name. Despite it being the name he passed down to her, Fenty is also the name of Rihanna’s successful beauty line, which she started in 2012.

She believes her father is profiting from her beauty line’s success.

“Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf,” reads the suit filed Tuesday in federal court in Los Angeles.

Fraudulent bookings, the lawsuit states, include a $15 million tour in Latin America, along with two concerts in Los Angeles and one in Las Vegas for $400,000.

Rihanna claims to have nothing to do with those bookings.

The lawsuit says she has attempted to stop her father and his business partner by way of cease and desist letters to her father and his business partner to no avail.
