- Sabrina Carpenter surprised Coachella Weekend Two crowds by bringing out Madonna mid-set during “Juno,” performing “Vogue,” an unreleased duet, and “Like a Prayer” together.
- Madonna used the moment to announce her return to the festival 20 years after her original Confessions on a Dance Floor performance, calling it a “full circle moment.”
- The collab teases a rumored duet on Madonna’s forthcoming album Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II, due July 3.
If Sabrina Carpenter‘s Coachella Weekend One felt like the pop coronation of the year, Weekend Two was her victory lap — and she brought the original queen along for the ride.
On Friday night (April 17, 2026) at the Empire Polo Club, Carpenter delivered yet another masterclass in big-tent pop spectacle, this time with an assist that shut the internet completely down: Madonna, in full regalia, rising from the middle of the stage like a glittering apparition from 1990.
The moment arrived mid-set during “Juno” — the signature track in Carpenter’s Short ‘n Sweet tour, where she theatrically “arrests” a surprise celebrity. This time, no handcuffs were needed. The track cut to Madonna’s iconic “Vogue” medley, and the two sang the hit together.

From there, it only escalated.
After rumors swirled that she would appear at Coachella Weekend One, Madonna made her cameo near the end of the set, joining Carpenter to debut a new duet rumored to be on the singer’s upcoming album Confessions II. The new unreleased song is called “Bring Your Love,” and Madonna also performed an a cappella snippet of “Get Together.”
Gracious as ever — and clearly delighted — Madonna thanked Carpenter for the invite with characteristic flair. “Sabrina, thank you so much for inviting me on your show,” Madonna said. When Carpenter replied, “No thanks needed, Madonna. You can have whatever you want,” the balance of power in the moment was perfectly captured: admiration, deference, and mutual benefit all wrapped into one sentence.

Then Madonna, because she is Madonna, cracked a joke. “The other thrilling thing I need to point out to everybody right now is this is probably the first time I’ve ever performed with someone who’s shorter than me,” she said. “So, thank you for giving me that experience.”
Before launching into “Like a Prayer” — complete with backup dancers dressed in habits descending from the back of the stage — Madonna got reflective. “So 20 years ago today I performed at Coachella,” she told the crowd. “I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor Pt. 1’ in America, and that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is to be back 20 years later in the same boots, with the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, a Gucci jacket. So it’s like a full circle moment, you know? Very meaningful for me.”

She also got a little philosophical. “The great thing about music is that it brings people together. Am I right?” said Madonna — before she descended below the stage and the lights plunged into darkness, cuing Carpenter’s launch into “Espresso.”
The timing of the appearance is not exactly accidental. Madonna announced her upcoming album Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II will be released July 3 — her first studio project since Madam X dropped in 2019. Coachella, as it turns out, made for an extremely effective promotional venue.
For Carpenter, this particular fan-girling has been years in the making. At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Carpenter wore a white sparkly Bob Mackie dress that Madonna wore to the 1991 Oscars, and she channeled Madonna in her February Vogue cover, wearing a cone bra dress and blond curls reminiscent of the “Material Girl’s” look from the ’80s and ’90s.

The rest of the Weekend Two set was no slouch either. Carpenter also brought out actress Geena Davis to perform a monologue — a nod to Thelma & Louise, just as co-star Susan Sarandon did the week prior. Terry Crews also joined mid-set, poking fun at his iconic role in White Chicks and briefly singing “A Thousand Miles.”
Carpenter’s headlining gig comes after a busy few years for the singer, who kicked off her Short ‘n Sweet tour — her first arena trek — in September 2024, staying on the road through the end of 2025, when she closed with six nights at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena just a week before she was celebrated as Variety’s Hitmaker of the Year.
Two years ago, Carpenter famously used her Coachella outro for “Nonsense” to tease her ambitions: “Coachella, see you back here when I headline.” She wasn’t bluffing. And this time, she brought the Queen of Pop with her to prove it.
