Federal authorities conducted raids on the residences of Sean “Diddy” Combs in Los Angeles and Miami early Monday (Mar. 25, 2024) amid allegations of rape and sex trafficking linked to the music mogul.
“Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners,” a spokesperson for the federal agency said. “We will provide further information as it becomes available.”
The specifics of the investigation remain under wraps, but reports suggest that Combs might be a significant figure in the inquiry, with potential criminal charges being explored.
The raids come at a turbulent time for Combs, who recently stepped down from his role at Revolt Media amidst growing legal scrutiny. Accusations against him include several sexual assault lawsuits, one involving a minor and allegations of abusive behavior from a former long-term partner, Cassandra Ventura. Combs was also accused last month by a producer on his latest album of severe misconduct, leading to a lawsuit seeking $30 million in damages.
While Combs's representatives have yet to comment on the raid, attorneys representing his accusers have voiced their support for the investigation and expressed hope for accountability.
However, one of the lawyers working for Ventura and another, Jane Doe, accusing Combs, did have something to say. “We will always support law enforcement when it seeks to prosecute those that have violated the law, NYC-based attorney Doug Wigdor said in a statement Monday after the feds had moved in on Combs’ residences. “Hopefully, this is the beginning of a process that will hold Mr. Combs responsible for his depraved conduct.”
Details of the raid and the investigation are still developing, with the Department of Homeland Security leading the effort but withholding specifics. Local news footage captured part of the Los Angeles operation, highlighting the seriousness of the federal government’s actions against Combs.
