Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco dropped a surprise new track, “Scared of Loving You,” just before Valentine’s Day. The song, which leads their forthcoming collaborative album I Said I Love You First, provides a candid peek into their romantic journey. The complete album will be released on March 21.
The pair officially went public with their relationship in December 2023, though they had been secretly dating for several months. They announced their engagement on Dec. 11, 2024. This musical collaboration marks their first major project as a couple, though they’ve worked together on various tracks previously.
“The album celebrates the pair’s love story, giving fans a unique window into their relationship,” representatives for Gomez and Blanco shared in a statement. “This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences. It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.”
The fresh track features the couple expressing their devotion to each other. Penned by the duo alongside FINNEAS, who is known for his work with sister Billie Eilish, the song showcases Gomez’s delicate vocals with subtle harmonies from Blanco. Their lyrics delve into their profound connection, reading almost like wedding vows.
