Selena Gomez and Linda Ronstadt

Guess who Selena Gomez is about to channel in her upcoming role? None other than the legendary Linda Ronstadt! Like her namesake, Selena Quintanilla, Selena Gomez is ready to embody another iconic singer-songwriter in an exciting new biopic.

According to Variety, hold onto your hats because this movie is still in its preproduction phase. While we don’t have all the juicy casting details just yet, what we do know is that John Boylan, Ronstadt’s manager, and James Keach (the mastermind behind the 2019 Ronstadt documentary) are teaming up to bring this incredible story to life. (Fun fact: Keach is also producing an upcoming biopic of Glen Campbell starring the talented Tim McGraw.)

Let’s talk about how Selena Gomez dropped a major hint about this exciting project on her Instagram Stories. She casually shared a snapshot of Ronstadt’s memoir, Simple Dreams. Wink, wink.

It didn’t take long for fans to notice the striking physical resemblance between Selena Gomez and the beloved Linda Ronstadt. With their shared Mexican heritage, the connection is undeniable!
Linda Ronstadt, the Latin music sensation, lit up the music scene in the 1960s. From folk rock to country rock, she conquered it all. Her albums Heart Like a Wheel and Simple Dreams became iconic, with the former even earning her a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Talk about a powerhouse!

Recording rock, country, folk, and Latin music throughout her illustrious career, Ronstadt snagged a whopping 11 Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, due to vocal decline and health issues, she bid farewell to the stage in 2011. But not before receiving a well-deserved lifetime achievement award from the Grammys in 2016 and a prestigious Kennedy Center honor in 2019.
