In a revealing interview with The Hollywood Reporter, acclaimed actress Emma Stone, known for her roles in several box office hits, shared a personal wish to revert to her birth name, Emily, after two decades under her stage name. The Hollywood favorite, whose career has flourished under the moniker โ€œEmma,โ€ expressed a longing for the simplicity and authenticity of her given name.

The need for a stage name arose early in Stoneโ€™s career due to the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) regulations, discouraging members from registering under identical professional names. Faced with the dilemma of sharing her birth name, Emily Stone, with another guild member, she opted for โ€œEmma.โ€ Initially a mere formality, this change became an identity she carried through her meteoric rise in the entertainment industry.

However, Stone recently confessed to experiencing a moment of introspection, questioning the sustainability of her stage persona. โ€œThen I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, โ€˜I canโ€™t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.โ€™โ€ she recounted. This sentiment is echoed in her personal circles, with both family and close professional acquaintances already referring to her by her birth name.

When probed about the likelihood of correcting fans who address her as Emma, Stone was enthusiastic about the potential shift, indicating a fondness for her original name. Interestingly, her affection for the name โ€˜Emmaโ€™ traces back to childhood admiration for Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, as Stone shared with Jimmy Fallon in a previous interview. Sporting blonde locks in her youth, she was drawn to the nickname โ€œEmmaโ€ and never anticipated the full-circle moment her career would bring about.
