Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans just after midnight on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, following an alleged bar fight that ended with paramedics on the scene and LaBeouf being photographed inside an ambulance.
He now faces two counts of simple battery — a charge that carries up to a year in prison if he’s convicted. The New Orleans Police Department responded to reports of a disturbance at a business on Royal Street around 12:45 a.m., and what they found was exactly as chaotic as you’d imagine.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, LaBeouf was allegedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a business on Royal Street. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the incident took place at R Bar in the Faubourg Marigny — where, for context, on Monday evenings, you can get a haircut and a shot for $20. A staff member attempted to eject LaBeouf from R Bar, but things only escalated from there.
After he was removed from the building, LaBeouf allegedly hit one man several times with closed fists. He then left, only to return and act even more aggressively. After multiple people attempted to hold him down, LaBeouf was let up “in hopes that he would leave” — but he allegedly resumed hitting the man instead.

Here’s where it gets weirder: this wasn’t some spontaneous Tuesday meltdown. This was the culmination of a five-day bender. LaBeouf — who has professed to be sober and who has blamed his abusive behavior toward ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs on his past alcoholism — had been on an extended weekend bar crawl in the city’s Uptown neighborhood since Thursday.
He showed up at 24/7 bar Ms. Mae’s in what the establishment’s doorman described as an “inebriated” state and “somewhat belligerent.” He was also without cash or a shirt, putting the latter back on only when he was told he had to. On a return visit Sunday (February 15, 2026), the doorman noted that LaBeouf “did the ‘Do you know who I am?’ bit” when asked to leave after he tried to play celebrity bartender. He reluctantly obliged.

Not everyone had a bad time with him. At 45 Tchoup, a locale along the parade routes, co-owner Deb Shatz confirmed he visited twice, saying, “Yeah he was here, and he was totally chill. He came twice: the weekend before last and then Friday. He dipped his card but left without signing, so we added a 20 percent gratuity.” A bartender who waited on him at another stop was considerably less diplomatic: “He is terrorizing the city!”
Video obtained by TMZ shows a shirtless LaBeouf outside the bar, speaking with paramedics and receiving treatment, though he doesn’t have any obvious major injuries. He was also photographed inside an ambulance. In one clip, he’s seen sitting in the open trunk of a police car with a white T-shirt draped over his head. It is, objectively, a lot.

This arrest adds a fresh entry to LaBeouf’s already well-documented legal timeline. He was arrested in 2014 for drunkenly interrupting a Broadway performance of Cabaret, detained again in January 2017 for an assault in Queens, then six months later in Georgia for harassment and disorderly conduct. He was busted for assault again in Los Angeles in 2020 and settled a sexual battery lawsuit with singer FKA Twigs in 2025.
Representatives for LaBeouf have not responded to requests for comment. The city of New Orleans, presumably, is ready for a nap.
