This is probably not the way that the Spice Girls wanted their reunion tour to begin in Dublin this past Friday (May 24, 2019).
Baby, Scary, Ginger and Sporty opened their sold-out show with an everybody-is-equal message of empowerment:
“Welcome to Spice World. Spice girls, spice boys, everyone is welcome. We want every single one of you to feel special tonight. Like a king or a queen, we celebrate you. But I got to say there are a lot of queens here tonight,” Ginger Spice told the crowd.
While many posts on marveled at the “amazing,” “magical,” and “so cool,” spectacle, others were not so happy, “I just can’t even.”
The #spicegirls put on a fabulous show tonight. But am really surprised that nobody seems to be talking about how poor the sound was. Could hardly make out the words they were saying at times. Was worst sound I’ve ever heard at a concert pic.twitter.com/UnKsi3B4Wo

There’s something wrong when the crowd at @spicegirls concert are all sitting down because no one has a clue what song is on because the sound really is THAT bad. @mcd_productions @CrokePark @IrishTimes @LovinDublin #SpiceWorldTour #SpiceGirl pic.twitter.com/QkENc7BJ8Y

Too bad you can’t hear a thing. The sound is awful. Was perfect for Jess Glynn & is horrific now. Loads of people leaving.

After some fans complained about the concert’s poor sound quality, Mel B took to social media to address their concerns.
“Hey guys, thank you for attending our show tonight in Dublin,” the singer said in a video posted to her Instagram story.
“We will see you in Cardiff and hopefully the vocals and the sound will be much, much better.” She ended the message with a frustrated sigh.
