Shortly after making waves with his surprise appearance at the NFL Draft, Eminem, the legendary Detroit rapper, made a grand announcement concerning his musical future. He's gearing up to release his much-anticipated 12th studio album, titled The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). This revelation comes hot on the heels of Dr. Dre‘s tease last month, hinting that we could expect new tunes from Eminem before the year's end.
Following the buzz of his NFL Draft moment, a teaser trailer for Eminem's upcoming album quickly made its rounds across the internet. The teaser cleverly plays out a fictitious true crime reportage regarding the metaphorical “death” of Eminem's infamous alter ego, Slim Shady. In the video, a narrator dives into Slim Shady's complex and provocative world, touching on his polarizing, tongue-twister lyrics and headline-making antics.
In the clip, the reporter can be heard saying, “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.” A cameo of 50 Cent appears in the video as the reporter says, “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath. The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.” Eminem himself cameos and says, “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”
Since bursting onto the scene in 1997, Eminem has frequently adopted the Slim Shady persona, using it to deliver some of his most unforgettable and edgy tracks, notably on projects like the Slim Shady EP and The Slim Shady LP. Eminem's forthcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), is slated for release this summer, promising to add another captivating chapter to the rapper's storied career. Check out the teaser for a sneak peek into what's to come.
