Netflix is all in with the Menendez brothers. The streaming giant just dropped the trailer for The Menendez Brothers, a true crime doc that'll have Lyle and Erik Menendez sharing their side of their infamous case for the first time in three decades.
Calling from Donovan Correctional Facility, the brothers revisit that fateful night in 1989 when they killed their parents, Kitty and José Menendez. This doc features in-depth audio interviews with Lyle and Erik, the trial lawyers, journalists who covered it, jurors, family, and other insiders.
They're bringing fresh perspectives on this divisive case. The trailer touches on the trial itself, the evidence, and how social media is sparking a movement to free the brothers today.
Though Lyle and Erik were convicted in '96 for murdering their parents, they've always said they did it out of fear. They claim they were going to expose their dad José for sexually, physically, and emotionally abusing them.
But prosecutors argued it was all about getting their hands on that multi-million dollar inheritance, pointing to the brothers' big spending spree right after the murders. In the end, they got life without parole.
This trailer comes hot on the heels of Ryan Murphy and Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which hasn't been getting much love from critics.
Check out the trailer above. The Menendez Brothers hits Netflix on October 7.
