Tom Cruise stole the show at the Paris Olympics finale with a jaw-dropping stunt worthy of Mission Impossible.

The Hollywood icon, a constant presence at the Games since the Opening Ceremony, became the centerpiece of Paris’ handover to Los Angeles in 2028. While London 2012 had its moments, Cruise’s long-awaited spectacle was pure Tinseltown magic.

Spotted earlier on the Stade de France’s edge during the marathon closing ceremony, Cruise’s grand entrance followed H.E.R.‘s soulful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. This came right after the Olympic flag was passed to LA Mayor Karen Bass and gymnastics legend Simone Biles.

“America, let’s go!” exclaimed NBC’s Mike Tirico as Cruise, rocking a leather jacket, landed among the athletes. “That’s how you do it!” chimed in Jimmy Fallon. Grabbing the flag from Bass and superstar Biles, Cruise hopped on a motorbike and zoomed out of the stadium. To deliver the flag to LA, the scene cut to pre-recorded footage of Cruise skydiving, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers blaring.

This stunt was one of the Games’ worst-kept secrets. In fact, Cruise’s absence would’ve been more shocking than his appearance.
