Watch Timothée Chalamet singing as Bob Dylan in the first trailer for A Complete Unknown, and more news

Timothée Chalamet‘s hidden musical talent is finally getting its moment in the spotlight. The actor transforms into Bob Dylan for James Mangold‘s upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown, which explores the folk icon's rise and controversial shift to electric guitar.

“A few weeks back, my friend Woody Guthrie and I, we met a young man; he dropped in on us out of nowhere and he played us a song,” Pete Seeger (Edward Norton) introduces Dylan onstage. “In that moment, we got a feeling we were getting a glimpse of the future.”

The new trailer doesn't overload viewers with plot details. Instead, it showcases Chalamet's Dylan-esque vocals through a rendition of “A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall” performed for an unseen, captivated audience. Chalamet captures Dylan's distinctive raspy tone convincingly, likely thrilling his devoted online fanbase.

As the song plays, we glimpse girlfriend Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning), who catches Dylan's eye at a folk gathering and rides pillion on his motorcycle. Early supporter and fellow musician Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) also saw a chance for romance with Dylan and seized it.
