Congrats on your latest endeavor! How did ”Essence of You” and your partnership with Hatch come about?

I think this collaboration came from a need to want to help others. Hatch is always thinking of ways in which their products can better serve the people that use them. Thinking about how hard mornings are, and sometimes how hard it is to motivate ourselves, Hatch looked to the expertise of some of the most confident people on the planet, drag queens. Watching the work that I put in on season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, they knew I would be perfect to get some morning motivation started. Although I’m very confident in my drag, I'm still open enough to share my experiences with the world. And for that reason, I believe a lot of people connect with me. Every day is not going to be easy, and I understand that because I live that. Hatch saw that in me and knew that I could give something honest to their base. And that’s exactly what we do with this partnership.

How would you describe the series?

I would describe the series as the perfect way to start your day. It's not always easy to get up and face ourselves and the world. But a little help is what keeps us encouraged. Sometimes we need that in the morning or throughout the day to drive us to be our best self and to love ourselves. We all know how important we are and what we have to offer the world but sometimes we just need a reminder. And that’s exactly what Hatch and I do with this series.

What are some rituals you can’t start the day without?

I like to start my day honestly, thinking about things that I’m grateful for. Oftentimes our day is full of so many chaotic things that will happen, with so many pressures along the way. So, I find it helpful that thinking of the things that make you smile, that make you feel comfortable, that make you feel at home always kind of set the tone that no matter what happens in the day you’ll be great. Oh, and hugs from my dogs Raja and Riley!

What makes you truly happy?

Honestly, making the people around me proud makes me very happy. Having the opportunity to help others any chance that I can makes me happy. But reaching for my dreams, and realizing that I can make them happen, has made me happier than anything. I used to really doubt myself so much, and we all have moments of that, but every time I achieve a new goal, do something I might never have dreamed of like this series or try something that I’ve always been afraid of, I become more and more proud of myself.

How do you rejuvenate and keep your energy up when you're stressed out, tired, or managing a busy schedule of performing and travel?

When I want to stay rejuvenated and keep my energy up from traveling the world and performing around a big schedule, I always make time for myself. If I have the option, I’m going to always find a candle that I can light, put on music that makes me feel amazing in my soul and connect to myself. I think oftentimes when we have crazy schedules and we work like this, so much is about the people that we’re entertaining and spreading that love to, that we forget about ourselves. You gotta take care of you first honey if you want to take care of the people around you.

What’s your biggest beauty tip?

A big beauty tip is to always moisturize that skin honey. Stay hydrated and get lots of rest. BUT real beauty comes from within so I say the ultimate beauty tip is always treat yourself and the people around you with love and respect and you will continue to be beautiful!

What advice would you give to someone who needs relaxation and rejuvenation in their life?

So, I don’t mean to brag on myself or Hatch, but this series is the perfect way to relax and rejuvenate. My channel allows you to connect with me and share experiences that I’ve had that I think we all share and connect to. But even when not listening to my channel, there are so many great tracks and channels on Hatch that allow you to kick back and just unwind. And honestly that’s why I’m so glad that I was able to do this collaboration. I actually use my Hatch every day in real life all the time to make myself feel comfortable and centered. It’s almost like an audio hug!

What is next for you?

I’m very excited about getting feedback and hearing how this channel is helping others, thanks to Hatch. But I’m also looking forward to celebrating my birthday on the 9th of December with people that I love. Then to go home for the holidays to spend a lot of time with my family and my close friends.

I have an amazing trip to London for DragCon UK where I’ll be able to meet so many of my Drag Race sisters and the people who support me across Europe and around the world. I’ll soon be going on tour (February to be exact) to host in Canada as we celebrate the top contestants of both season 3 and 4 of Canada’s Drag Race, before heading back to Vegas to perform in RuPaul‘s Drag Race Live on the strip at the Legendary Flamingo Hotel.

Most importantly, I get to continue the work that I love most, helping others, as a host on the fourth season of HBO’s We’re Here! We get to highlight the stories of amazing queer people and allies in small areas around the country. Allowing them to share their journeys, express themselves and add to the healing of so many. I’m honored to be a part. Oh, and who knows maybe more collaborating with Hatch! I know I’ll be collaborating with them tonight for the best sleep ever.

When did you know that you wanted to become a performer?

Growing up I never really thought that I would be a performer. I always loved background things like designing. After performing a couple of hair shows, I really found that I was able to showcase my love that I had for dance as well and when I found out what drag was, I was immediately intrigued. I didn’t pursue it right away because I was extremely nervous, but once I finally did, the floodgates were opened. I finally started to live my most fabulous life.

Who has had the biggest influence on your career and why?

My boyfriend Gee and his mother Helen literally pushed me to start drag because they saw that I was interested in it. They’ve always supported me from the moment that I started until now and without them I honestly don’t know where I would be.

What is your favorite song to perform?

I really love performing “Die Young” by Kesha. Anytime I tell people that they seem so confused. However, I love that song because it allows me to be a little more gritty and because I love the message in the song. Not to be morbid, but we all never know how much time we have here or with any of the people that we love…so, while we live, our lives are best if we celebrate each and every day the best that we can and that is a constant reminder of that. Not to mention that the music behind it is amazing as well and I get to show off killer dance moves.

Who would you want to play you in the movie of your life?

If anyone could play me in a movie about my life, I would take the Lifetime network Fantasia Barrino story approach and play myself. Because nobody knows my story better than me! Lol.

What superpower or talent would you like to wake up with tomorrow?

This is not fair, so I’ll choose a superpower and a talent. I would love the ability to fly. Flying, I feel, would allow me to be so free. And my talent, of course, would be to sing out to the world with the most sickening voice.

What are three things you can’t live without?

Three things that I cannot live without: my cell phone, beautiful shoes, and the braided damn way, and put it on messed up but it’ll still hold your beef noodle soup from Din Tai Fung.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

The piece of advice that I’ve ever been given came from my father. I’ve messed it up so many times on Drag Race, but today I’ll make sure I get it right. That advice is keep your mind right and your ass will follow. It simply means as long as you focus on the things that you want, the way you treat others and stay motivated, all of your actions will follow.
