Amber Heard just revealed on Instagram that she recently welcomed a baby girl, Oonagh Paige Heard, into her life via surrogate. I have to say that I did not see this one coming.
The actress shred the news to her Instagram followers on Thursday (Jul. 01, 2021), revealing her journey to motherhood has been in the works for a few years.
Alongside a photo of herself cradling the tot on her chest, the new mum wrote, “I'm so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms.”
“I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it's normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”
“A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone's business,” she continued. “I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.”
“My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She's the beginning of the rest of my life.”
The little girl's middle name is a tribute to Amber's late mother, Paige.
Heard is currently in a relationship with cinematographer Bianca Butti, whom she has been dating since January 2020, but she made the decision to have a baby on her own some time ago and is “proud” to be Oonagh’s sole legal parent, Page Six reports.
