Ariana Grande gets emotional after Drew Barrymore surprises her with a very special prop from The Wizard of Oz movie
Drew Barrymore left Ariana Grande absolutely stunned when she presented her with something truly magical from Hollywood's golden age.
In an upcoming interview set to air on Thursday (Dec. 04, 2024), Barrymore gifted the Wicked actress with something extraordinary – the actual wand used by Billie Burke in her role as Glinda in the beloved 1939 classic The Wizard Of Oz.
Barrymore built up the anticipation by telling Grande she had “something that's extremely exciting and special” to share. She revealed that this treasured item had previously been in the Smithsonian's collection and is now privately owned.
“But for the purposes of our sit-down, they loaned it to us,” Barrymore said before asking a crew member to “bring out the original Glinda wand, please.”
Grande was left completely awestruck at the chance to hold such an iconic piece of movie history, covering her face in disbelief.
“Are you serious right now?” she finally managed to say, playfully walking offstage with the wand while telling Barrymore and the audience, “Thank you guys, it's been fun” before clarifying she was kidding.
Barrymore genuinely gushed about how Grande, dressed in a pink strapless gown, looked with the wand.
“You look so perfect with it,” she said.
“How did you even, how did you pull this off? Oh my God, did you break in?” Grande asked.
Barrymore explained that everyone was “so excited about you coming here” that they decided, “‘OK, let's get the wand.'”
“That is the original wand from The Wizard of Oz. So there you go,” she added.
Grande remained overwhelmed, only able to whisper, “Oh my God.”
