Call Me By Your Name fans may have to settle for one movie, because Armie Hammer (pictured here at the Hotel Mumbai New York Screening after party at The Times Square Edition on March 17, 2019 in New York City) is not giving us much hope for a sequel.

The film that follows 17-year-old Eilo (Timothee Chalamet) and his sexual awakening with his dad’s graduate assistant Oliver (Hammer) set amidst the romantic backdrop of Italy.

Despite the film winning an Oscar, Armie Hammer is not holding out on a second movie.

When asked about the idea of a Call Me by Your Name 2, Hammer said, “The truth is, there have been really loose conversations about it, but at the end of the day—I’m sort of coming around to the idea that the first one was so special for everyone who made it and so many people who watched it felt like it really touched them, or spoke to them.”

He went on to say, “And it felt like a really perfect storm of so many things, that if we do make a second one, I think we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment. I don’t know that anything will match up to the first, you know?”

“Timmy’s out! I’m not sure why. Timmy said the only way he’d do it is if they paid him $15 million,” Hammer joked in an interview with Vulture.

When asked if Chalamet and director Luca Guadagnino feel the same way, he admits “I haven’t had that conversation with them explicitly.”

Hammer does add that “If we end up with an incredible script, and Timmy’s in, and Luca’s in, I’d be an asshole to say no. But at the same time, I’m like, That was such a special thing, why don’t we just leave that alone?”
