Barry Keoghan has taken down his Instagram account following a wave of negative messages and comments he received after his split from Sabrina Carpenter.
The Saltburn star took to X on Saturday, December 7, to share his thoughts on why he removed his Instagram presence and asked people to show more “respectful” behavior towards him and his loved ones.
“I can only sit and take so much,” Keoghan said. “My name is being dragged across the internet in ways I usually don't respond to.”
Keoghan expressed that making a statement became necessary because “too many lines being crossed” were happening, and he removed Instagram because he “can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.”
“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine,” he continued. “Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.”
Keoghan revealed that individuals have been “knocking at my grannies door” and camping outside his former partner Alyson Sandro and 2-year-old son Brando‘s residence, “intimidating them.”
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy,” he continued. “I want you to remember that he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all.”
Questions about Barry Keoghan's relationship status with Sabrina Carpenter intensified recently, and on December 3, an insider told PEOPLE that the couple had “decided to take a break” after being together for a year. When gossip platform Deuxmoi spread rumors about Keoghan allegedly being unfaithful with a TikTok personality, a source informed PEOPLE that these claims were untrue and that Keoghan was “always very faithful to her from the start.”
