The Church of Housewives

If keeping up with the many seasons and many castmates of the Real Housewives is akin to a religious experience for you, let Blake Adam take you to church. On his podcast, The Church of Housewives, Blake and his co-hosts Will Moyer and Kindall Gray talk all things housewives and recap all of the drama, craziness, and laughs that are a benchmark of this long-running franchise.

Whether you are a fan of the OGs from the OC, the peaches of Atlanta, or the queens of the Big Apple, this podcast is a must-listen for the housewife obsessed. We had the chance to chat with Blake about the show and his favorite cast members. Get to know the pastor of this addictively entertaining “church.”

The Church of Housewives

Describe your passion for all things Real Housewives and how The Church of Housewives came to be.

I can proudly say that it was the OG city that drew me in…RHOC changed my life. The whole concept and format of the show, while it has evolved over time, worked instantly. I watch every HW city and a bunch of other Bravo shows. As a network, they truly have nailed the reality tv formula unlike any other network has been able to.

I was chatting with my friends Will and Kindall about our mutual love of the Housewives when the idea for a podcast came to be. That was in the summer of 2019 and we just celebrated our 50th episode!

Which housewife/housewives would you like to see brought back – from any cast?

Well, I normally would say Heather Dubrow but the Bravo Gods have answered my prayers on that one! I’d also love to see Tamra back in the mix with her. In Atlanta, I would love to see what Phaedra and Sheree are up to, and in NYC I would really love to see Bethenny and Dorinda back.

What is your favorite of the Real Housewives franchise and why?

I have such a soft spot for RHOC because it was my first (you always remember your first!) but I also loooove RHOBH and RHOP. RHOBH always brings the glam and the drama, and RHOP is the only city where I honestly don’t LOVE or HATE any of the HWs, and that makes for a really cool viewing experience for me. In all of the other cities, there are always some HWs that I just can’t stand. But not in Potomac!

The Church of Housewives

Which current housewives can do no wrong by you?

Heather Dubrow is my all-time favorite HW and that is because I relate to her so hard. There truly isn’t another HW that I will blindly support, but throughout her entire time on the show I never once turned on her. I can’t wait to have her back!

Of all the housewives that you’ve interviewed for your podcast, what has been your favorite or most surprising interview?

Tamra Judge was an absolute pleasure to interview. She was seriously so sweet and so easy to talk to. She and I keep in touch and actually talk pretty often through messages or DMs. We have a lot of fun and there are a lot of laughs whenever we chat.

Our most surprising interview was actually Eden Sassoon, who was a Friend Of a few seasons back on RHOBH. In addition to talking about her time on the show, we got a lot of great gossip from her about her time growing up in LA on the scene. She told us some really fun and scandalous stories of her hooking up with A-list actors (she drops names!) in public places.

Who’s your dream “get” as a guest?

I would love to interview LVP (Lisa Vanderpump) and hear some insight on what was really going on behind the scenes (at least in her opinion) during her time on the show. I’d also love to talk to Heather Dubrow (obviously!) and Porsha Williams, another favorite of mine. We have found though that it’s sometimes better to get a former HW on the show because, free from the confines of those pesky NDAs, they tend to spill more tea.

The Church of Housewives

Erika Jayne’s divorce and what she does or doesn’t know about her estranged husband Tom Girardi’s business dealings has been the major storyline on this season’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? What is your take on all of it?

Oh boy, this is a topic we have been talking about A LOT over the past half a year or more. Here’s my short version…but if you want the real tea listen to the podcast! She definitely knew. And even if she didn’t, her handling of everything and her entire attitude toward the situation since it all became public has been atrocious. As Paul Kemsley once said…she’s not intentionally cold, she’s inherently cold.

Kathy Hilton has become a fan favorite on RHOBH for her quirkiness. Do you think it is wise that she was cast as a “friend of the housewives” and not a full-time cast member?

I think she is exactly where she is supposed to be. I don’t think she could have been a full-time HW because she isn’t getting into the drama. Hell, she’s actually MISSING the drama because she’s distracted reapplying her makeup. She is a gem, she is the moment, and I am absolutely loving her.

Do you agree with a number of fans that this season’s Real Housewives of New York City is boring? Why is Eboni K. Williams so polarizing?

I don’t think it’s boring, but it is definitely a pivot for RHONY. Over the past several years I had been very vocal about how RHONY had become the comedy city in the HW universe. There was a lot of booze, a lot of incoherent shouting, and a lot of laughs. Eboni is polarizing because she is shining a light on something that is hard to digest – people we love (whether in real life or through our TVs) can be extremely problematic but it’s important for us all to face our social shortcomings. We also can’t forget that this season was playing out before the election and prior to the administration change, in the midst of the pandemic and prior to a vaccine roll-out, and at the end of a year that many consider to be one of the biggest civil rights reckonings since the 1960s.

Why do you think there is such a backlash regarding Leah McSweeney on this season of RHONY?

I think she is a victim of the audience building her up so much last year that the only place for her to go was down. It’s hard to live up to such a stellar first season. That said, I do think she did a little too much this season and I was definitely annoyed by her multiple times throughout the season. But would I sign the petition to have her removed from RHONY? No.

The Church of Housewives

What is your take on Jen Shah’s federal fraud charges arrest? Will it dominate next the next season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City like the Erika Jayne scandal has on RHOBH?

OMG the drama. I remember the day the news broke of her arrest SO vividly. It was like time stood still. I cannot wait to see how it plays out on the show and I am also excited knowing that her trial has not even happened yet so Season 3 will most certainly feature the drama as well. It’s like Teresa and Joe 2.0 and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. Sorry, Jen.

How has doing this podcast changed you?

I have made SO many amazing new friends in the Bravo world, from stars of the shows to other podcast hosts and entertainment journalists to the superfans who love Bravo and listen to our show! It has been an incredible experience, and *hopefully* it’s still the beginning of the journey.

What other podcasts do you listen to?

We love “Juicy Scoop” and “Bitch Sesh.” My co-host Kindall LOVES Brandi Glanville’s podcast but TBH I think that’s psychotic. I am also a huge Britney fan so I love the “We Need to Talk About Britney” podcast. Oh, and Rachel Bilson from The OC just started a new podcast recapping the series and that’s been a really fun and nostalgic show to listen to!

What’s next for you?

RHOSLC premieres on September 12, so I’ll be focusing my attention there and continuing to enjoy this amazing season of RHOBH! And outside of the podcast, I am continuing to grow my personal brand, I just bought and moved into a new house that I am having a blast decorating, and my husband and I are in the process of adopting a baby! Lots of exciting things happening. In the words of the OG…WOO HOO!
