Bruce Springsteen has criticized Donald Trumpโ€˜s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, telling the president: โ€œPut on a fucking mask.โ€

The singer-songwriter made the remarks on Wednesday (June 17, 2020), speaking on his From My Home to Yours series on US radio station SiriusXM.

โ€œWith 100,000-plus Americans dying over the last few months and the empty, shamed response from our leaders, Iโ€™ve been simply pissed off,โ€ he said. โ€œThose lives deserve better than being simply inconvenient statistics for our presidentโ€™s re-election efforts. Itโ€™s a national disgrace.โ€

Dedicating Bob Dylanโ€™s โ€œDisease of Conceitโ€ to Trump, Springsteen added, โ€œWith all respect, sir, show some consideration and care for your countrymen and your country. Put on a fucking mask.โ€

During his latest weekly show, the rock icon read out a list of COVID-19 victims and added, โ€œIt is a heartbreaking and lonely death for those afflicted and for those left behind to pick up the pieces.โ€

Trump has drawn criticism in recent months for his administrationโ€™s response to the COVID-19 outbreak and for recently downplaying concerns about the disease amid a surge in cases seen in parts of the country as states continue to reopen their economies.

โ€œIf we stop testing right now, weโ€™d have very few cases, if any,โ€ Trump said earlier this week.

No. Thatโ€™s now how it works. Weโ€™d still have the number of cases that we do, but we wouldnโ€™t know about it. Which would be far worse than knowing the number of cases that we have.
