Cher Horowitz is coming home — literally.

Paramount+ has ordered a Clueless sequel starring Alicia Silverstone as a limited series, giving the beloved 1995 teen comedy its long-awaited follow-up nearly three decades later.

The streamer’s greenlight comes after the project spent years bouncing around Hollywood, most recently landing — and then getting dropped — at Peacock earlier this year.

“Clueless is coming home,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+, in a statement announcing the pickup.

Wiseman praised Silverstone’s original performance, noting that Cher’s “signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism” helped turn the film into a cultural touchstone.

The series marks something of a homecoming in more ways than one. Paramount Pictures originally released the 1995 Clueless film, making this new project a return to its studio roots.

Silverstone will reprise her career-defining role as the Beverly Hills It-girl and also serve as an executive producer on the series.

The story picks up three decades after the original. The synopsis describes Cher as having “figured out a lot,” having found success in business and mastered motherhood — until her own daughter hits high school and parenting a teenager makes her feel “clueless” all over again.

Gossip Girl masterminds Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, alongside Dollface creator Jordan Weiss, are writing and executive producing through their Fake Empire banner. Original Clueless writer-director Amy Heckerling and producer Robert Lawrence are also on board as executive producers.

Sources say Paramount+ has ordered a six-episode series, with production slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027.

The production has already submitted paperwork with the California Film Commission to seek state tax subsidies.

The Alicia Silverstone Clueless project has had a winding road to the screen. Silverstone first celebrated the news of a series revival back in April, writing on Instagram that she was “totally buggin’… in the best way.” That earlier iteration was set up at Peacock before the streamer passed on it months later.

Now, as a limited series, the Clueless revival finally has a real shot at production — putting Cher Horowitz’s plaid-clad, Beverly Hills world back in the spotlight after 31 years.
