Gisele Bündchen is setting the record straight on the rumors surrounding her recent split from NFL legend Tom Brady. The glamorous couple, who tied the knot in 2009 and shared 13 years of marriage, have been the center of media speculation following their breakup in 2022. Amidst whispers of infidelity, Bündchen is speaking out to clear her name.
In a revealing interview with The New York Times, the supermodel vehemently denied allegations of cheating on Brady. “That is a lie,” she asserted, addressing the hurtful gossip head-on. “This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful,” Bündchen continued. “They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family.”
Despite her high-profile partnerships with luxury brands like Chanel and Pantene, Bündchen acknowledged that celebrity breakups might garner extra attention but maintained that the root issues are universal. “No one really knows what happens between two people, only the two people in the relationship,” she emphasized, shedding light on the private nature of personal decisions.
In a turn towards the future, Bündchen also shared that she's begun dating again, finding love with jiu-jitsu trainer Joaquim Valente. Their relationship blossomed from friendship, marking a new chapter for the model. “It’s very different. It is very honest, and it’s very transparent,” she said of her new romance.
Bündchen and Brady, who share three children, officially ended their marriage in October 2022. Their separation came after Brady's short-lived retirement from professional football—a move that sparked rumors of tension. Bündchen refuted such claims as “the craziest thing” and expressed how hurtful unfounded speculations can be.
Reflecting on their time together, Bündchen spoke with a mix of sadness and gratitude. “It’s heartbreaking, you know, to go through that,” she told ABC News before tearing up and adding: “It’s definitely a time of transition that had to take place and it’s not something that you [wish for]. But I think, sometimes in life, things happen. I feel so blessed.”
“I wouldn’t change anything in my life,” she added.
