You wonโ€™t believe who almost made their way into the iconic world of Mean Girls! Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., the masterminds behind the movie musical remake of the hilarious 2004 comedy, spilled the tea on a potential star who could have had a spot in the Plastics.

In a recent interview published by The Hollywood Reporter, Jayne and Perez dished on making the new Mean Girls just one day after its highly-anticipated release. As the conversation veered towards memorable lines and comedic moments from the original flick, they revealed an exciting casting idea that had us shooketh.

โ€œPicture this,โ€ Jayne mused, โ€œthere are certain lines that have become so iconic, we couldnโ€™t dare touch them. Like โ€˜You go, Glen Coco!โ€™ Itโ€™s a cultural phenomenon, itโ€™s what the people want! But then we asked ourselves, who the heck is Glen Coco anyway?โ€

Thatโ€™s when Perez chimed in, his eyes twinkling with mischief. โ€œWe had a wild thoughtโ€ฆ what if we cast Harry Styles?โ€

Yeah, you read that right! The former One Direction heartthrob himself was being considered for the role of Glen Coco. Can you imagine the frenzy that would have caused? We can already hear the screams of excitement from Directioners everywhere!

But wait, thereโ€™s more! Jayne quickly added, โ€œThen it hit us, letโ€™s break that fourth wall. What if we are all Glen Coco? Letโ€™s make everyone feel like theyโ€™re part of this iconic moment, even after 20 years!โ€
The line is delivered straight to the camera in a hilarious twist, breaking through that cinematic barrier and giving viewers that extra sense of inclusion. Genius, right?

Fast forward to 2024, and we have the Mean Girls remake weโ€™ve all been waiting for. Based on the Broadway musical adaptation of the original Tina Fey-penned film, this incarnation features the talented Reneรฉ Rapp as Regina George and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron. And guess whoโ€™s back? Tina Fey reprises her role as Ms. Norbury, while Tim Meadows returns as Mr. Duvall. Oh, and donโ€™t forget about Lindsay Lohanโ€˜s epic cameo!
