Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are putting their kids first as they navigate their ongoing split.
TMZ shared that the former couple came together for a back-to-school night on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The outlet noted they “were totally cool with each other and very cordial.”
While they reunited, sources close to Lopez and Affleck told TMZ they aren’t rekindling their romance. As TMZ put it: “We’re told they’re a couple who still care for each other… they’re wrapped up in a years-long love affair.”
This low-key meetup happened just days after they were seen in public together for the first time since Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in late August. They grabbed lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel with their children: Lopez’s 16-year-old twins Emme and Max from her marriage to Marc Anthony, and Affleck’s kids Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, whom he shares with ex Jennifer Garner.
The lunch outing sparked rumors that the divorce was off, but a source quickly set the record straight with People magazine. “They all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could hang out,” the insider shared. “[Jennifer is] trying to be friendly with Ben. They are still moving forward with the divorce, though. They are working out financial details amicably.”
The source added, “A divorce is never easy, but Jennifer doesn’t want to be selfish about it. The kids always got along and have fun together. It makes her happy seeing the kids happy together. Happy kids are her priority.”
