Justin Timberlake has apologized to wife Jessica Biel for his “strong lapse in judgment” after he was snapped holding hands with co-star Alisha Wainwright.

Timberlake is currently filming new movie Palmer alongside Shadowhunters actress Alisha, and recently the two were spotted getting close on a night out.

In late November, The Sun published a series of photos showing Timberlake and Wainwright holding hands “during a boozy night out.” The images immediately sparked controversy, as well as rumors that Timberlake was being unfaithful to his wife of nine years, actress Jessica Biel.

Addressing the rumors, Justin has issued an official apology on his Instagram, saying that he's sorry to have put his wife and family in the spotlight of “such an embarrassing situation.”

Timberlake and Wainwright were seen at The Absinthe House, following a day of shooting. One source told The Sun the costars were “were smiling and laughing” as they sat on the balcony with a few drinks.

“At one stage he grabbed her hand and rested it on his knee. She then gently started stroking his leg,” a source told the outlet. “Then he clutched her hand with both of his and was playing with her hands.”

Timberlake posted an emotional apology on social media.

“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love,” he wrote.

“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar,” he continued.

“I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior,” Timberlake wrote. “I should have known better.”

“This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that,” he said.
