  • Kaia Gerber says she unknowingly joined Gal Gadot’s mocked 2020 “Imagine” pandemic video via a friend’s request.
  • She thought she was filming a birthday clip, only realizing the truth once the viral video dropped online.
  • The moment became her first-ever IMDb credit, one she says she’s finally made peace with.

Five years, one pandemic, and a permanently scarred IMDb page later, Kaia Gerber is finally setting the record straight.

The supermodel just admitted she had absolutely no idea she was signing up for Gal Gadot‘s infamous 2020 “Imagine” video (watch below) — arguably the single most mocked celebrity moment of quarantine.

Her story starts, as these things do, with a friend and zero due diligence.

A pal asked if she’d film a singalong; Kaia figured it was harmless, and she didn’t bother asking follow-up questions.

She assumed it was for someone’s birthday. She was staying with Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson at the time, and nobody clocked the red flags.

Then the song request landed: John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Still, no alarm bells.

A week later, the internet imploded. A star-studded, wildly off-key rendition of “Imagine,” featuring everyone from Natalie Portman to Will Ferrell, dropped online, and Kaia watched it like a bystander at her own crime scene.

She figured the song was just having a viral moment, unaware she was actually in the clip until roughly sixty seconds in.

Cue the personal plot twist: there she was.

The kicker is the legacy this accidental cameo left behind. It became her very first credit, and it’s stuck around ever since, unbothered by fame, unbothered by time.

She says she’s made peace with it, but wanted the truth out there once and for all.

Gal Gadot herself has spent years walking back the video, admitting that the timing and taste were both off, even as she insisted that her intentions were pure.

Kaia’s version just adds a new layer: some of her co-stars didn’t even know they’d signed up for the moment at all.
