After rumors surfaced that Katy Perry wouldn’t return to American Idol as a judge alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, a big update has arrived regarding the singer’s status.

Today ABC revealed that judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan will be returning, as will host Ryan Seacrest.

Lionel, Katy and Luke have been judges since 2018, when the show went from airing on FOX to ABC. Ryan has been hosting since day one, but fans weren’t sure if he would return after he landed the coveted Wheel of Fortune host spot when Pat Sajak announced his retirement earlier this summer.

Katy was also a huge question mark, or so we thought after rumors started swirling that she wanted to “quit” the show, with reports claiming she didn’t like the way producers were portraying her to viewers.

The show’s fans were thrilled with the news that their favorites would be returning. “Yesss! Great judges,” one person wrote. “So excited for Season 7 and the judges,” said another.
