Disney shared the latest glimpse at this summer’s live-action treatment of The Lion King with an official trailer today (April 10, 2019).

From Jon Favreau, the director behind the similarly made smash hit The Jungle Book in 2016, this will be just as special effects-heavy in hopes of transporting audiences to what certainly feels like a live-action world.

Scar, the villain voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor, narrates the powerful trailer, which gives fans the first up-close look at the CGI magic used to bring the animal kingdom to life.

The film is set to premiere on July 19 – 25 years after the original film was released.

The trailer shows Simba grow from a lonely cub to the ruler of the animal kingdom, while he makes friends with a cast of characters along the way. Donald Glover plays Simba, Billy Eichner plays Timon, Seth Rogan plays Pumbaa and Beyoncé plays Nala.

Here is the film's synopsis:

Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
