Lorde has confirmed her third album will be released this year after a social media frenzy followed rumors last week that two singles were on their way.

The New Zealand Grammy-winner, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, posted what appears to be cover art for her next album on her website, revealing it to be called Solar Power – echoing the reported name of one of its singles.

The cover image is a not-safe-for-work shot taken from ground level, capturing Lorde’s apparently bare lower half as she is mid-stride.

Lorde captioned the photo: “Arriving in 2021… Patience is a virtue.”

Fans have been waiting nearly four years for this album; Lorde’s most recent record, Melodrama, was released on June 16, 2017.

Last month, Lorde told fans she had been in the studio recording “happy, playful things” after the release of her third album was delayed following the death of her beloved dog, Pearl, in late 2019.

In her email newsletter, Lorde said she had been “working away” on the album over FaceTime with her frequent producing partner Jack Antonoff, who has posted the cover art on his Instagram.

Her official website shows the perky peach pic alongside a message to fans: “ARRIVING IN 2021 … PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE.”

The site also gives a link to sign up for a newsletter for updates about the forthcoming album or single, which was not specified.
