HBO’s Euphoria has delivered its fair share of graphic nudity and sex scenes over its first three episodes. I mean, the scene with 30 penises in episode two!
However, none have been as unexpected as a sex scene featuring former One Direction band members Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
The sequence was an animated rendering of One Direction fan fiction written by the character Kat (Barbie Ferreira) who wrote a graphic story about Larry Stylinson, the nickname for the fictional same-sex relationship between Louis and Harry.
In the animated scene narrated by Zendaya’s character Rue, Harry comforts a nervous Louis before a concert by performing oral sex on him.
Actress Barbie told the Hollywood Reporter: “When I first read the script, that was the first thing that popped out to me because I can relate to that as a 22-year-old woman who lived through the One Direction age. It’s such a reality for so many people, and so many children and teens that are fans just have this escapist world.”
“You completely give yourself to this persona of a person you don’t even know, or five guys, and imaging the way they interact the escaping from your own reality. It’s really interesting to me because I was definitely a part of that, where I wanted to escape my own life and focus on others because it was easier and felt more meaningful.”
Let’s just say that Louis Tomlinson was not happy about the scene.
Replying to a fan on Twitter on Monday (July 1, 2019), Louis responded to suggestions he approved the scenes by confirming he did no such thing.
“I can categorically say that I was not contacted nor did I approve it,” he wrote.
Louis has previously said that the whole “Larry Stylinson” thing made his friendship with Harry uncomfortable while they were in the band, which went on hiatus in 2016.
