On September 7, Mac Miller was found dead at the age of 26.
The 26-year-old rapper's death was an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner added that his death was “due to mixed drug toxicity.” Mac, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, reportedly went into cardiac arrest following the overdose and was found unresponsive when paramedics arrived at his California home on Sept. 7.
Fentanyl is a powerful opioid pain medication and is much stronger than heroin. It has taken the life of numerous stars, including Prince and Tom Petty.
According to the report, Mac's assistant found him unresponsive on his bed in a “praying position.” He was kneeling forward with his face resting on his knees and he was already “blue” when his body was discovered.
The manner of death was ruled accidental. Simply heartbreaking.
The Pittsburgh native was in a two-year relationship with Ariana Grande that ended earlier this year. She has been honoring him on social media and with her latest single, “thank u, next.”
