In a remarkable display of public support, fans of Hollywood veteran Mickey Rourke have successfully raised a substantial sum to prevent the Academy Award-nominated actor from losing his home. The initiative, launched after reports surfaced that Rourke was facing an imminent eviction, saw the community come together to surpass a fundraising milestone in record time. This financial lifeline arrives as the 73-year-old actor navigates a tumultuous period marked by legal disputes and professional setbacks.

The crisis began in late 2025 when court documents revealed that Rourke had fallen significantly behind on his lease payments for a three-bedroom bungalow in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles. According to legal filings, the actor was served a three-day notice on December 18 to either pay $59,100 in back rent or vacate the premises. The landlord, Eric Goldie, subsequently filed a formal complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court after Rourke reportedly failed to comply with the notice.

In response to the mounting pressure, Rourke’s management team and close associates turned to the public for assistance. A GoFundMe campaign titled “Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home” was established on January 4, 2026, by Liya-Joelle Jones, a friend and assistant to Rourke’s longtime manager. The fundraiser sought to raise $100,000 to cover the outstanding rent, legal fees, and provide a buffer for future stability.

The campaign description provided a candid look at the actor’s current struggles, noting that “Mickey Rourke is an icon—but his trajectory, as painful as it is, is also a deeply human one. It is the story of someone who gave everything to his work, took real risks, and paid real costs.” Jones further emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating to the press, “Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help.”

Within 24 hours of the page going live, the response was overwhelming. More than 1,600 individual donors contributed to the cause, with the total quickly climbing toward the $100,000 goal. Many donors left messages of encouragement, citing Rourke’s performances in films like The Wrestler and Sin City as the inspiration for their generosity. One donor noted, “The goal is to give Mickey some stability and peace of mind during a stressful time so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet.”

The actor’s financial woes appear to be the culmination of several factors, including a recent contentious exit from Celebrity Big Brother U.K. and a reported $500,000 loan taken out during the 2023 Hollywood strikes to maintain his lifestyle. Despite the fame associated with his name, the campaign organizers reminded the public that “fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability.”

With the funds now largely secured, Mickey Rourke is expected to settle his debts with the landlord and remain in his residence.
