Nicholas Galitzine, known for his captivating performances in queer roles within the rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue and the drama miniseries Mary & George, recently opened up about his sexuality in a revealing British GQ interview.

Despite his on-screen personas, Galitzine confirmed, โ€œI identify as a straight man. But I have been a part of some incredible queer stories.โ€

The actor shared his conflicted feelings about portraying LGBTQ+ characters, expressing his concerns over potentially occupying a space that might belong to someone else. โ€œI felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether Iโ€™m taking up someoneโ€™s space, and perhaps guilt,โ€ he explained. โ€œAt the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.โ€

The โ€œIdea of Youโ€ actor emphasized the distinction between his professional roles and his personal life, stating, โ€œI am Nick, and Iโ€™m not my role.โ€

In a conversation with HuffPost UK, Galitzine elaborated on his affinity for queer roles. โ€œI have so many friends within the community,โ€ Galitzine said in the interview published in March. โ€œAnd I know so many of them didnโ€™t feel like they had these stories growing up.โ€

He added, โ€œI think with all of these [gay and bisexual] characters the thing that I find really intriguing as an actor is that underbelly of vulnerability and having to hide oneself.โ€

Galitzineโ€™s reflections offer insight into the complexities of representation and identity in the acting world, highlighting his conscientious approach to storytelling and deep respect for the narratives he helps bring to life.
