Tom Cruise and politics.

Why on earth would Tom Cruise pay a visit to the Prime Minister of France?

The hour-long meeting, held at the actor’s request, touched on issues including Franco-American relations, sources close to Sarkozy said. Ties between Paris and Washington were badly damaged last year by France’s vocal opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq. It was not clear why Cruise wanted to meet Sarkozy, who has made no secret of his presidential ambitions but is little known overseas.

If anyone can mend the strained relations between the United States and France it’s Maverick. Another thing, why did Tom play so coy about his political views in a recent interview? My take is, that he doesn’t want to offend any of his fans by actually having an opinion on something other than his heterosexuality.

Despite the refusal to come out to the political closet, Tom is a Democrat. He’s donated $21,000 over the last five years to Democratic-affiliated campaigns.
