We feel you, Alec Baldwin. It seems as if the days of playing President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live may be over.
Baldwin told USA Today that he is “so done” with the role that won him an Emmy in 2017.
“I can't imagine I would do it again. I just can't. They should find somebody who wants to do it,” Baldwin said.
He added that he worked minimally over the past year to be with his wife and new son. But he says he's planning to take on more projects during the week now, so he wants his weekends back.
“SNL just crushes my weekends, and now weekends are going to become much more precious to me because that's time with my kids,” Baldwin said.
Who could be possible replacements? Baldwin suggested SNL announcer Darrell Hammond take the role, as he did when he was a former cast member.
The actor has expressed frustration with the role in the past; previously, he complained that he felt Trump's criticism of his portrayal could become a threat to his family's safety.
In 2017, Baldwin said on Extra that he wasn't planning to do the impression “much longer.”
