Bravo is planning to make the federal fraud and money laundering charges Jen Shah faces a central part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s second season. That includes exclusive footage of the embattled Housewife’s arrest, Us Weekly reports.
Shah, 47, and her first assistant (don’t ask), Stuart Smith, 43, each pleaded not guilty in a federal courthouse on Friday (Apr. 02, 2021) to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.
“Production sees this as a great storyline,” the insider says. “One that everyone will want to see unfold.”
The source notes that the show is currently “still filming” following Shah’s legal problems, which came to a head on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, when she was arrested in Utah and accused of defrauding “hundreds” of people in a telemarketing scam.
“It’s ratings gold,” the insider adds. “They’re going to use as much footage as they can that they’re legally allowed to use.”
When it comes to Shah, the source tells Us, “Jen still intends on filming with the cast” despite her recent legal troubles.
As for Bravo’s Andy Cohen‘s take on Shah’s arrest? “Oy vey,” Cohen, 52, exhaled before expounding on his disappointment.
“I’m waiting to see how it plays out,” the Watch What Happens Live host said. “I have nothing to add to what we already know, other than I certainly hope and pray that none of it is true.”
Meanwhile, In a new leaked audio, which was said to be obtained from her Instagram account, Jen was heard blasting her co-stars on the Bravo reality show.
Jen was first heard slamming Heather Gay. “Heather, she can lie all she wants but I’m ready to bust her s**t wide open,” she fiercely said, before adding, “I was ready to do it in the summertime when I started my ‘Shah Tha Fah Up’ podcast for IG live. Then I got a call from Bravo like. ‘Hey, you know, can you please not say anything?’ “
“Yeah – you wanna know why – I didn’t mention any names, but you wanna know I’m getting a call? You saw on the footage, the bitch is racist as fuck,” Jen continued. “They all were.”
In the audio, Jen also claimed that she’s the only minority in the cast. “I’m the only minority on the show,” she stressed. As for Mary Cosby, Jen argued that Mary “doesn’t even count because Mary thinks she’s white.”
She went on saying, “But, they just all came for me, which it’s fine. I’m gonna be myself. People like that because I’m real. And they know I’m the one on the show that has the biggest heart too. They know that….”
