R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested in Paris yesterday morning with two other people on suspicion of rape, a French police source said.

The arrests were first reported by Closer magazine, which said the three men had been detained after a 24-year-old woman alleged she was raped at Brown’s hotel suite on the night of 15 January.

Police said one of the others held is Brown’s bodyguard.

Prosecutors in the French capital confirmed Brown faced criminal charges after the alleged sex attack a week ago.

A source said: “He is accused of a rape and is being held at the judicial police offices in the 1st arrondissement.

“He was arrested with two others on Monday, and interviews and other inquiries are ongoing.”

Brown has been in repeated legal trouble since pleading guilty in 2009 to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

He completed his probation in that case in 2015.
