A temporary harassment order against The Flash actor Ezra Miller expired in Massachusetts on Friday after a court hearing, reports stated.
The protective order was brought against Miller by a mother who had accused Miller of acting inappropriately around her 12-year-old non-binary child. The accusations were published in The Daily Beast last year amid a flurry of other allegations (and arrests) involving the actor.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Miller, who also identifies as non-binary, said they were “unjustly and directly targeted” by an individual with a history of “manipulative and destructive actions.”
They wrote that protective orders are meant to safeguard families and children and not to be “used as weapons by those seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame or some sort of personal vengeance.”
They also asked members of the media “who have recklessly spread false claims” to hold themselves to “a higher standard’ instead of “chasing clicks.”
In their statement, the actor clarified that very few people stayed with them during their tough times. The actor stated that they have been doing better to preserve their own wellness and are trying to reverse the collateral damage done to them.
“I want everyone to know that I am continuing to do my best to preserve my own wellness and what I can to reverse the collateral damage this ordeal has brought upon me and those close to me.”
“Finally, to all you many beings in this world who have had the enormous courage to see me through it all and make it here with me – I will spend a long time trying to explain to you what it has meant to have your support. You have my undying gratitude, admiration, and love.”
Newly appointed DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran stood behind the actor ahead of the release of The Flash but still couldn't give a solid answer on if they would return or not, leaving everything up in the air.
Although, The Flash director Andy Muschietti did confirm that if he returned to helm a sequel, Miller would continue as the Fastest Man Alive.
