Who knew that baring it all on the big screen could be so perilous? Glen Powell, the charismatic star of Top Gun: Maverick, recently revealed the danger he faced while shooting a daring nude scene with his co-star Sydney Sweeney in their latest film, Anyone But You.
As Powell disclosed to Variety, taking off your clothes on the edge of a cliff in a rush is far from safe! In fact, he nearly met his maker after a cliffside mishap while hurriedly removing his pants. But hey, all's well that ends well, right? According to Powell, the heart-stopping moment was worth it for the sake of an unforgettable scene.
This wild adventure took an unexpected turn when Sweeney, ever the hero, came to the rescue. As Powell stripped down in front of her, she bravely saved him from an eight-legged surprise by plucking out a massive spider that had made itself at home inside his pants. Talk about teamwork!
But the adventure didn't end there! At their movie premiere, Sweeney couldn't resist reflecting on the scandalous situation that brought them closer than ever before. From dodging spiders to checking for more hidden critters, their on-screen chemistry left no stone unturned.
“It was a spider-filled affair,” Sweeney quipped. “I even got bitten by one! And as for Glen bending over… well, let's just say I'm quite acquainted with him now.”
However, don't let their on-screen connection fool you. Powell recently put an end to the swirling rumors, debunking any romantic involvement with his talented co-star. In an interview with Men's Health, Powell addressed the unfair speculation that arose after their casting as romantic leads, emphasizing that it's a part of the showbiz package.
The rumors may have sparked due to their friendly demeanor during press appearances, combined with Powell's break-up with girlfriend Gigi Paris. But rest assured, Sweeney is happily engaged to restaurateur Jonathan Davino.
Powell told the magazine that dating has become more complicated since Top Gun: Maverick raised him to a new level of fame, and any potential girlfriend would have to be “down for that adventure” as his career takes off.
“When the sun is shining, you gotta make hay,” he said. “And you gotta chase this while you got it. And on a romantic level, you gotta find a teammate who is down for that adventure, down for that uncertainty, down for that thing. It's a lot to deal with. Honestly, I really try to be a great partner. When I love, I love hard. I also understand that the speed and uncertainty of my life is a very hard thing to put up with.”
