Glen Powell is setting the record straight about those Mission Impossible rumors. The 36-year-old heartthrob has playfully dismissed speculation that heโ€™s next in line to take over (and potentially leap off skyscrapers) if Tom Cruise ever steps away from the action-packed franchise.

โ€œMy mom would never let me do that,โ€ Glen joked to sports analyst Pat McAfee on Nov. 12. โ€œThatโ€™s a death trap.โ€

Tom, 62, has been embodying Ethan Huntโ€”the daredevil government agent famous for his jaw-dropping stuntsโ€”since the series kicked off in 1996. On Nov. 12, fans got their first glimpse of Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, continuing where 2023โ€™s Dead Reckoning concluded. While keeping its secrets close, the teaser confirms that the eighth, reportedly final installment, showcases Tom performing another round of mind-blowing stunts.

This dedication to authenticity is something Glen witnessed up close during their collaboration on Top Gun: Maverick. After the movie hit theaters, everyone from social media fans to Hollywood insiders couldnโ€™t stop talking about their on-screen chemistry. The Anyone But You actor himself gushes about their special connection and Tomโ€™s mentorship.
