Hugh Jackman is a โ€œbig fanโ€ of gender neutral acting awards.

The 54-year-old star has revealed that he would support an overhaul of awards ceremonies, arguing that gendered acting categories should be scrapped.

Hugh โ€“ who has been nominated for the Best Actor in a Motion Picture gong at the Golden Globes for his performance in โ€˜The Sonโ€™ โ€“ said: โ€œThat would be a really positive step.

โ€œI donโ€™t understand why itโ€™s split into just two genders when we all know itโ€™s a much bigger spectrum.โ€

Hugh acknowledges that an overhaul would reduce his chances of personal success. However, the Hollywood star ultimately believes that a change is needed.

He told the BBC: โ€œWhatever the mix is, we should maybe just break down any of those categories that end up being divisive and unnecessary.โ€

Hugh is one of the worldโ€™s most in-demand actors โ€“ but he previously admitted that he actually wanted to be a โ€œchef on a planeโ€ when he was growing up.

The movie star explained that his first-ever flight really captured his imagination.

He shared on Instagram: โ€œIf anyone asked me from that point on, for an embarrassing three or four years, what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say a chef on a plane.โ€

The โ€˜Greatest Showmanโ€™ star also recalled the moment he first set eyes on an aeroplane meal at the age of โ€œnine or tenโ€.

He said: โ€œWe were sitting there, it was a three-hour flight, and all of a sudden I see this trolley coming in and I smelled food.

โ€œIโ€™m like, โ€˜Food? It smells good, what is that?โ€™ Theyโ€™re like, โ€˜Well weโ€™re getting lunchโ€™. And I said, โ€˜What do you mean lunch?โ€™ They said, โ€˜They give you lunch!โ€™ I said, โ€˜On the plane?! They give us lunch?โ€™

โ€œAnd I saw this trolley come down and out comes this food. Iโ€™m like, โ€˜Thereโ€™s a chef up there cooking food?'โ€
