Rob Schneider has responded to his daughter Elle King‘s recent interview on the Dumb Blonde podcast. In the interview, Elle accused him of sending her to “fat camp,” forgetting her birthdays and being largely absent from her childhood.

In a new video shared by Tucker Carlson on Wednesday (Aug. 14), the former Saturday Night Live star offered a public apology to the “Ex's & Oh's” singer, whom he had with his ex-wife, former model London King.

“It's fun being a parent, isn't it?” he joked when Carlson first brought up Elle's comments. Then, getting serious, he said, “I want to tell my daughter, Elle, I love you. I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed, and clearly, I wasn't.”

“I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings,” Schneider continued, looking straight at the camera.

“I love you completely, I love you entirely. I just want you to be well and happy, you and your beautiful baby, Lucky. I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally.”

“All I want is for her to be happy and to heal from this,” the Hot Chick actor added to Carlson.

This interview clip comes just two days after King told Bunnie XO on her Dumb Blonde podcast that she often goes years without talking to her father. She added that she doesn't like being associated with him because “he's just not nice.” “My dad called me and was like, ‘Don't fucking talk about me in the press,'” she said on the podcast. “I was like, ‘Get fucked.'”

The singer-songwriter also made it clear that she disagrees with Schneider's controversial political views. She recalled how she once “got in trouble” for not losing weight while dealing with a sprained ankle. “I was a really, really heavy child, and my dad sent me to fat camp,” she said. “My dad forgot every single birthday.”
