Following his recent appearance at the Liberty Inaugural Ball, where country music veteran and Miley Cyrus‘ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, experienced technical difficulties during his “Old Town Road” performance, several members of the Cyrus family have voiced their concern over his wellbeing.

The 63-year-old singer’s former spouse, Firerose, 25, said she was “genuinely worried” about Cyrus, stating that “what’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship.” His son Trace Cyrus took to Instagram with an open letter, writing, “You’re not healthy & everyone is noticing it.”

Despite his previous claims about Satan and David Lynch destroying his life and family, Billy Ray didn’t point fingers this time. He “had a ball at the Liberty Ball” and attributed any performance issues to technical difficulties, adding that “that’s called rock n roll!!!” He assured his followers that he “wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me.”

While he enthusiastically defended his performance at President Trump’s event (“that’s called rock n roll!!!”), his response to his son’s expressions of concern took a different turn. In a recent Instagram post, Billy Ray reportedly escalated the situation by threatening “legal action for wanting you to get help.”

Trace’s subsequent message to his father marked a shift into more direct confrontation in their public discourse. While acknowledging his message came “beyond loving,” Trace revealed he “could have been extremely honest about a lot more” but chose to maintain discretion about his father’s “business out there like that.”

However, the legal threats crossed a line for him. “For you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace,” he wrote, before making a poignant reference to Billy Ray’s late father. “Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment, I can assure you. You should be ashamed of yourself.” This development has led Trace to maintain his familial love while withdrawing his “respect as a man.” “Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”

Additionally, Trace Cyrus shared several Instagram Stories, including a Father’s Day 2022 memory (“The last good day I had with my dad”) and an image showing his father receiving a COVID booster while wearing a “Jesus is my booster” shirt. After pointing out the ironic nature of the attire, Trace noted the absence of direct communication from his father. “He did contact a family member to let me know he’s taking legal action against me for encouraging him to get help,” Trace wrote. “Dad I live 30 minutes away from you. You could’ve just come & talked to me like a man.”
