Shark Beach With Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth is diving deep into shark eating habits as part of National Geographic’s Sharkfest.

During Shark Beach With Chris Hemsworth, the actor helps collect samples from a shark’s butt. Talk about being committed to science!

“Here we are, about to take an anal swab from the shark,” Hemsworth says in the clip, holding up the medical device. “All for science. So let’s dig in, shall we?”

Once the sample is retrieved, Hemsworth offers his apologies to the shark.

“Sorry about that, mate,” he says. Watch that clip here.

Also during Shark Beach With Chris Hemsworth, the Thor actor goes for a dive off the coast of Australia with 85-year-old shark icon and conservationist Valerie Taylor.

Taylor, the renowned underwater filmmaker and shark research pioneer comments that the grey nurse shark they’ve just encountered is the biggest she’s ever seen.

From the birth of cage diving to “Jaws” hysteria to the dawn of cageless shark diving, Taylor became a trailblazing advocate for the ocean’s most maligned and misunderstood creatures.
