ABC’s adorable Fresh Off the Boat was renewed for a sixth season (it was on the bubble of being canceled) and that is normally amazing news for the cast and crew of the show.
Well, apparently not for Constance Wu.
In a series of tweets, Wu stated that she was “so upset now that I’m literally crying.”
When one user later congratulated her on the “great news” (i.e. Fresh Off the Boat‘s renewal), she responded, “No it’s not.”
She also wrote “dislike” under a post announcing the renewal news on Fresh Off the Boat‘s official Instagram page.

Wu plays the mother, Jessica, on Fresh Off the Boat, created by Nahnatchka Khan and based on the memoir by chef Eddie Huang.
The series follows the Huang family a mother and father with three young brothers and their Mandarin-speaking grandma who move from Washington, D.C.’s Chinatown to Orlando in the mid-1990s.
The internet’s best response to this all was from Yashar Ali:
“Someone pass along Shelley Long, David Caruso, and Katherine Heigel’s info to her.”
An hour or so after her initial tweets, she “clarified” what she has originally tweeted.
Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day&were ill timed w/the news of the show. Plz know, Im so grateful for FOTB renewal. I love the cast&crew. Im proud to be a part of it. For all the fans support, thank u & for all who support my casual use of the word fuck-thank u too😘
And then later, she tweeted again to try and do a little more damage control.
“That was not a rampage, it was just how I normally talk. I say fuck a lot. I love the word,” she wrote. “Y’all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying. And no, it’s not what it’s about. No it’s not..what this is all about. Stop assuming.”
