Judge denies Britney Spears being freed from having Jamie Spears as conservator

In another twist to Britney Spears‘ ongoing battle to end her controversial conservatorship, the judge in the case has denied the pop star’s request to have her dad, Jamie Spears, removed as conservator.
Variety reports documents filed by the L.A. Superior Court Wednesday revealed the judge had decided against removing Jamie as her sole conservator.
According to the outlet, the judge’s decision is not in response to Britney’s emotional statement to the court via Zoom last week because “the judge cannot make any ruling based on what she said as she still has yet to file a petition to terminate her conservatorship.”

The docs state, “The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” meaning the subject may be revisited.
Jamie Spears deflects blame of Britney Spears treatment in conservatorship
In her hearing last week, Britney slammed her father for controlling her life and compared her conservatorship to “sex trafficking.” Although Jamie was “sorry” to see his daughter in pain, he put the blame on her current co-conservator Jodi Montgomery for her “difficulties and suffering.”

“Ms. Montgomery has been fully in charge of Ms. Spears’ personal care and medical treatment in consultations with Mr. Ingham – and which consultations specifically excluded Mr. Spears,” so read his filing. “Mr. Spears, therefore, was greatly saddened to hear of his daughter’s difficulties and suffering, and he believes that there must be an investigation into those claims.”
Jodi, however, has fired back at Jamie’s filing through a statement released by her attorney Lauriann Wright, saying that she has been “a tireless advocate” for Britney. She also insisted that Jamie is charged with approving any and all expenditures as the controller of her daughter’s estate.

“Practically speaking, since everything costs money, no expenditures can happen without going through Mr. Spears and Mr. Spears approving them,” the statement read. “Ms. Montgomery has advocated on Britney’s behalf for any expenditures that Britney has requested as well as for expenditures recommended by Britney’s medical team.”
“Not every requested expenditure has been approved,” the message continued. “Jamie Spears, as conservator of the estate, has a duty to make decisions in the best interests of the estate, and sometimes that has meant requested expenditures have been denied or limited.”
