The investigation into Matthew Perry‘s untimely death is reportedly close to wrapping up, with significant developments on the horizon.
According to an insider, authorities are looking into several individuals who may face charges related to Perry's October demise. The beloved Friends star was found in his hot tub with ketamine detected in his system, prompting a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement agencies.
Sources reveal that the joint investigation by the LAPD, DEA, and United States Postal Service is honing in on where Perry obtained the drug. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had previously reported finding ketamine in Perry's stomach, with levels in his bloodstream indicative of general anesthesia doses.
TMZ had earlier disclosed a toxicology report from the Medical Examiner’s Office, which attributed Perry’s death to the “acute effects of ketamine,” leading to cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression. It's noted that Perry was undergoing ketamine-infusion therapy for depression and pain management, but the M.E. clarified that the therapy could not have directly caused his death due to ketamine's short half-life.
Other contributing factors highlighted in the report include drowning, coronary artery disease, and the presence of buprenorphine. Despite these findings, interviews suggest that Perry had been clean for nearly two years, with no alcohol or illicit drugs found in his system or home at the time of his passing.
The M.E. also noted Perry’s history of heavy smoking—two packs a day—and chronic health issues like COPD/emphysema and diabetes.
The final decision on potential charges rests with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which has yet to comment publicly on the case. Fans and followers of the actor continue to await closure as the investigation reaches its final stages.
