Presley Gerber has died at 27. Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber‘s son passed away Sunday (September 20, 2026) at a rehabilitation facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Gerber was born in 1999, the older of Crawford and Gerber’s two children; his younger sister is model and actress Kaia Gerber.
A family representative kept the statement short. “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” the rep said.
No cause of death has been released, and an autopsy had not been completed as of Monday (September 21, 2026). Officials have given no timeline for when more details might emerge.
However, according to TMZ, Presley Gerber was living with several other people at a rehab facility when he died, and it appears he suffered a fatal overdose.
Sources have told TMZ that Presley’s family has been told his death was the result of an apparent overdose. Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s son had been staying in a separate house on the grounds of a rehab facility in the L.A. area.
According to People, Gerber suffered cardiac arrest before he died. Dispatch recordings show a call went out at 9:35 AM Sunday for a cardiac arrest at the facility. A separate dispatch alerted first responders to an overdose at the same address.
Gerber carved out his own modeling career. IMG Models signed him at 15, and he debuted on the runway for Moschino before walking for Dolce & Gabbana in Milan. Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren followed.
He was also unusually candid about his struggles off the runway. Gerber spoke openly about mental health and substance abuse after a 2019 DUI arrest, and in 2024 launched a video series titled “Mental Health Mondays.”
Tributes arrived within hours. Paris Hilton, a longtime family friend, had actually left a comment under Gerber’s final Instagram post hours before news of his death went public: “Love you bro.”
She followed with a fuller tribute on her Instagram Stories. “I’m completely heartbroken. I still can’t believe this is real,” she wrote, adding that Gerber was “such a beautiful soul. So sweet, sensitive, kind and genuine.”
Fashion photographer Collier Schorr, who photographed both Gerber and Kaia and recalled him as a protective brother who tagged along to her shoots, remembered him from a Hugo Boss campaign. “I could feel him struggling to be present under the scrutiny,” she wrote on Instagram.
His sister had already spoken about that struggle publicly. Kaia Gerber referenced her brother’s addiction battle in a Vogue interview last month: “When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said.
Comments flooded Gerber’s final Instagram post, a set of photos for a clothing campaign, with fans crediting his openness and his videos for helping them.
Crawford and Rande Gerber have not issued a personal statement beyond the family’s request for privacy. Kaia Gerber has not commented publicly.
Gerber is survived by his parents and sister. No information on services has been made public.
