The world was surprised when Brad Pitt attended Jennifer Aniston‘s birthday party, but they apparently should not have been.
The famous exes have reconnected following their divorces; Brad from Angelina Jolie in September 2016, and Jen split from Justin Theroux in February 2018.
However, Pitt was the first to reach out after Aniston’s mother, Nancy Dow, passed away in May 2016, and the former Friends
actress was pleasantly surprised by his correspondence.

“Brad contacted Jen after her mom died, and she was touched that he knew what a difficult time it was,” an insider told Us Weekly.
Since then, the pair has been known to occasionally chat back-and-forth in private, so his appearance at her birthday party shouldn’t have come as a surprise to those closest to them.
“They have each other’s cell phone number and communicate from time to time,” the source said. “This is nothing new. Jen and [Brad] have remained friendly.”
A source revealed to People that the 55-year-old Pitt and other guests sent gifts to Aniston’s house before the big bash, which was held on February 9, 2019, at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, California.

“Most birthday party guests sent gifts to Jen’s house,” the source said. “Brad did, too. Her friends are all very generous and creative, and she seemed very excited by all the gifts.”
